frontpic.jpgWelcome 1st Longham Scout Group, Dorset, England

2008 was our Golden Jubilee, celebrating 50 years of scouting in Longham. Want to know more?  Have a look at our Group History page on the left.

We would very much appreciate all scouting visitors signing our guestbook.

November 2011 Awards

Congratulations to First Longham members who received awards at the District Presentation Evening on 8 November 2011:

Gus C and Max B - Chief Scout Bronze Award.
Joshua T - Chief Scout Silver Award.
Adam F who received a Certificate of Excellence from the District Commissioner, for having achieved Swimmer Stage 5 while still a Beaver Scout.

Cubs Win Again

Longham Cubs triumphed for the second year running at the District Cub Quiz on 15 October. This time however it was a reversal of last year's result, with Pythons taking the honours and Cobras finishing third.  Well done to Nathan, Toby, Callum, Aaron, Ethan and Matthew S (Pythons) and to George H, Paul, Joshua B, George H, Michael W, and Connor (Cobras).

  • Cubs - Sleepover - October half term holiday.
  • Beavers - Visit to Heavy Horse Centre - October.
  • Beavers - Visit to Library - November.
  • District Beavers Party - 26 November.
  • Term Ends - Beavers on Wednesday 14 and Friday 16, Cubs on Thursday 15 and Friday 16, and Scouts on Friday 16 December.
  • Scout Shop - All uniform may now be purchased direct from the group after section meetings.

Cub Camp 2011
Our annual Cub Camp during the half term holiday included Archery, Circus Skills, Tracking, Team and Individual Games and Challenges, with many badges being gained.  We had an entertaining camp fire on the last night and Beavers joined us on Saturday.  During the closing ceremony three Beavers 'swam up' to Cubs, four Cubs were invested and one Cub 'moved on' to Scouts.  Thank you to everyone who came along to help out - we all had a brilliant week.
